About Us

MCD is based in Ayr and is one of Ayrshires most popular and trusted timber merchants, with a reputation for high quality and excellent service.

We began processing and supplying firewood in 2012, and high quality fuel chips in 2015. Because MCD has many years experience in the timber and forestry trade, we fully understand the use of wood as a fuel, and how to develop a fully secure and reliable supply chain.

MCD have long standing arrangements with numerous woodland and forest owners in South West Scotland, and our own timber haulage lorries. This means that our supply chains are solid and secure.

Logs and chips are processed and stored at our own, secure site. We have multiple log and chip drying systems which gives us guaranteed drying capability.

Because we force dry our logs and chips, we can respond to ‘cold snap’ peaks in demand without running short, we won’t be running short at the end of a harsh winter, and we can take on new business at all times of the year.

All of our timber is grown in FSC certified woodlands. We are registered on the Biomass Suppliers List so that our customers can claim the Renewable Heat Incentive if eligible. In 2020 we have received accreditation from Woodsure and Woodsure Ready to burn for our kiln dried firewood and woodchip.

Because we operate both log and wood chip boilers at our premises, we understand and appreciate the requirements of what makes a quality wood fuel.

In spite of our size and impressive facilities, we remain a family business and keep customer relationships and satisfaction at our heart.
